Brother Superior General Robert Schieler, FSC, released a Christmas message, encouraging Lasallians to wake up to God’s presence, share the Good News and respond to the cries of the poor. He also released a pastoral letter to the Brothers, “Witnesses to Fraternity.” The cover of the pastoral letter features The Encounter at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. The Encounter is a monument of Saint John Baptist de La Salle depicting the moment when he met the layman and educator named Adrien Nyel. This chance encounter symbolizes the beginning of De La Salle’s involvement in education, which led to the founding of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools.
