Notre-Dame de la Rouge Centre Hosts Retreat for S. Ontario Students

Notre-Dame de la Rouge Centre (Francophone Canada District) hosted a weekend retreat for 43 students from French private Catholic schools in southern Ontario. The group traveled five hours to the camp site in Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, Quebec where the students spent time deepening their human and Christian values.

Accompanying the students were teachers and staff who participated in a conference on transmitting faith and Christian values in Ontario’s Catholic schools. They discussed how the decline in the number of young people in parishes makes the work of Catholic schools more necessary than ever. They also learned how to establish and nurture a pastoral project.

The weekend event closed with everyone attending Mass and students actively participating in the liturgy readings and singing. This proved to be the highlight of the gathering as the young people expressed their faith and joy.

Brother Florent Gauldreault, FSC, Assistant to the General Councilor in RELAN, provided the English translation and summary for this story written by Brother Élie Pouliot, FSC, director of the community of Notre-Dame de la Rouge, which appeared in the recent Francophone Canada District newsletter, Échos Lasalliens.
