Christian Brothers University (CBU) in Memphis, Tennessee, announced on April 23, 2019, that Jack Shannon has been selected as the 23rd president of the school, effective July 1, 2019. Shannon is an alumnus of La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and he currently serves on the executive committee of its board of trustees.

Shannon also holds a master of public policy degree from Harvard University and a juris doctorate degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Shannon comes to CBU from Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey, where he led the Office of Strategic Alliances, Economic Development, and Civic Partnerships and previously served as the university’s vice president for advancement.

Shannon will succeed Dr. John Smarrelli Jr., who is retiring after 10 years as president.
