The Lasallian Teacher Immersion Program (LTIP) Cohort 4 began August 28 at La Salle Institute in Glencoe. The participants include four students from St. Mary’s University in Minnesota: Johnny Borck, Kyle Garesche, Tom Iven and Sam Olsem; and two students from Lewis University: Dan Hettinger and Victor Scimeca. They will spend two weeks at Glencoe, followed by three weeks at Holy Family Catholic Worker in Kansas City, three weeks at De La Salle at Blessed Sacrament in Memphis, three weeks at Ocean Tides (for court-adjudicated youth) in Narragansett, one week at Jeremy House in Philadelphia, three weeks at Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis, and the final week at Glencoe to complete their academic work and final exams. The start of the program has shifted from the second semester to the first semester.
As we welcome the new batch of prospective Lasallian teachers into the program, LTIP alums are ready to begin their teaching careers. They include Brother Postulant Tony Elfering, LTIP Cohort 2, Bishop Kelley High School in Tulsa, starting January 2011; Adam Runge, LTIP Cohort 1, Roncalli High School in Manitowoc, starting this fall; Andrew (Drew) Knobbe, LTIP Cohort 1, Regina Dominican School in Wilmette, IL, starting this fall; and Jim Trebisovsky, LTIP Cohort 1, ESL teacher at Newport Elementary School in Newport, MN, starting in August.
