Lasallian Female Students Discern Their Vocation

Students from four states gathered to ponder God’s call.

NAPA, CA, February 3, 2009—The western province of the Brothers of the Christian Schools recently sponsored the second annual Vocation Retreat for Lasallian high school female students in Washington, Oregon, California, and Arizona. Twenty-four juniors and seniors and 10 adults gathered to discern their vocation and engage in sharing, prayer, and discussion at St. Joseph’s Camp on the Russian River, California, January 17 to 19. This group is about double the size of the inaugural retreat group from 2008. “I never thought of a vocation as anything other than priesthood, sisterhood or marriage,” said one participant. “Now I understand that it’s much more. It’s what you are called to do, the very essence of your being.” Another said, “I do have a clearer understanding of vocation. I now realize that your vocation can always change and that you shouldn’t worry. Just be open to the journey and God.” For information on retreats and other student activities in the west coast, contact Marilyn Paquette at De La Salle Institute in Napa at mpaquette@dlsi.org.
