La Salle School, Albany, Collaboration Serves More Families

La Salle School, a human services agency in Albany, NY, launched a partnership in January with two other childcare agencies in order to serve more families with a viable, cost-effective alternative to detention programs.

The Albany County Department for Children, Youth & Families awarded La Salle School $709,534 for a collaboration with St. Anne Institute and St. Catherine’s Center for Children to operate a Juvenile Reporting and Family Center (JRFC), which is modeled off of La Salle School’s Evening Reporting Centers. The partnership will allow the agencies to serve a wider age range of youth—both boys and girls—during afterschool and evening hours. The center will be based at La Salle School with sites on the other campuses as well. La Salle’s Evening Reporting Center currently serves 10 youth and this partnership is expected to increase that to up to 40 youth ages 9 – 17.
