Global Family Unites for International Lasallian Days for Peace

Peace

Lasallians are uniting for the 5th annual International Lasallian Days for Peace. The worldwide event started September 21, which is the United Nations’ sanctioned International Day of Peace, and ends October 21. During this time, Lasallians foster peace through prayer, study and action.

In a message to Lasallians, Superior General Brother Álvaro Rodríguez Echeverría wrote, “In a society corrupted by violence, marked by social inequality, plagued with social imbalance and wounded by all kinds of ‘crises’ we are hoping that you, the young, will provide a bold proclamation that says to all of us that ‘we still need to give peace a chance.'”

The International Council of Young Lasallians invites Lasallians to organize activities during the month-long event, and asks that all Lasallians plan an activity for Friday, October 21. Ideas for initiatives include volunteering, assemblies, prayer services, and workshops. The global Lasallian family will unite October 21 by participating in a 24-hour radio broadcasting marathon sponsored by La Salle University in Bogota, Colombia.

Lasallians in the USAT Region have already planned activities. For example, Saint Raphael Academy in Pawtucket, RI organized a school-wide prayer service, and Lasallian Volunteers is highlighting an Expression of Peace on its Facebook page every day of the Days for Peace.
