Five Novices Begin their Novitiate Year

Five new novices were welcomed to the Regional Novitiate in Napa, California, on Sunday, August 22. Over the summer, the men completed their studies and/or worked in schools and ministries:

tony
Tony Baginski (DENA): Completed graduate courses at La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA and assisted the retreat staff at St. Bernard’s High School in Uncasville, CT.

ken
Ken Kalinowski (DENA): Worked on graduate courses in Educational Leadership and taught at St. Raymond’s in the Bronx, NY.

 

anwar
Anwar Martinez (DENA): Completed his third year of the Buttimer Institute of Lasallian Studies and worked on the staff at Ocean Rest in Ocean City, NJ.

 

mike
Michael Miller (DENA): Completed a graduate course at La Salle University and taught at San Miguel Middle School in Washington, DC.

 

lewis
Lewis Harwood (Australia): Took courses in theology and spirituality and visited schools and communities in the District of Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

brother bobOn August 21, Brother Lewis received his Habit from General Councilor Brother Robert Schieler. The other novices had received their Habits at earlier dates.

During their time in the Novitiate, the novices will take part in classes and activities to develop their faith, their understanding of religious life and the Brothers, and their experience of community. Brother Kevin Slate of the San Francisco District serves as Director of Novices and Brother Robert Hazard of the District of Eastern North America is Sub-director.
