De La Salle Blackfeet School in Browning, MT, recently received shipment of two wind turbines using money donated from Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, PA. Central Catholic students came up with the idea to harness wind power for Blackfeet after visiting the school on an immersion trip.

Central Catholic students raised more than $30,000 during Lent for the purchase and installation of two sustainable energy-generating wind turbines. One will be mounted on top of the school; the other will be placed at the mission. The school is currently planning installation. They will provide electricity for the school and mission, and any surplus will go to the electric grid for which the utility company will send Blackfeet reimbursement checks.
