Students from Christian Brothers University (CBU) in Memphis, TN placed first in the International Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Student Branch Website Contest. Steven Menezes, Shilpa Appurubugatha and Martin Tribo will receive a $1,000 prize and a customized certificate in recognition of their efforts.

“I am really proud of my team and the IEEE Student Branch at CBU for achieving this award,” said Menezes. “The development of our website has been a team effort by all of our members in the student branch.”

The CBU team was one of 10 regional conference winners that advanced to the international level. Each website was evaluated based on the criteria of content, presentation, navigability, originality, portability and load time. While this marks the first time that the CBU Student Branch of the IEEE has claimed first place in the international competition, CBU students placed runner-up in the international competition in 2008 and 2009.
