Opportunities to celebrate the Year of Consecrated Life:


  • Nov. 2-8, 2014: National Vocation Awareness Week (USCCB)
  • Nov. 29, 2014: Opening Prayer Vigil (Vatican)
  • Nov. 30, 2014: Opening Mass with Pope Francis (Vatican)


  • Jan. 22-24, 2015: During the week of Christian unity, meeting of Catholic consecrated men and women and consecrated religious from other Christian traditions (Vatican)
  • Feb. 2, 2015: World Day for Consecrated Life (Vatican and USCCB)
  • Feb. 8, 2015: Religious Open House. Events will be coordinated to also celebrate the World Meeting of Families to take place in Philadelphia and will include tours, open houses, receptions, family activities and presentations on the history of religious communities at convents, abbeys, monasteries and religious houses.   • Second week of April 2015: Conference on religious formation around the world (Vatican)
  • April 26, 2015: World Day of Prayer for Vocations (Vatican and USCCB)
  • Summer 2015: Day of Mission and Service with Religious. Events will include joining religious in their apostolates or special service projects, such as assisting the elderly, ministering to the poor and homeless, and caring for the less fortunate. (USCCB)
  • Sept. 13, 2015: Day of Prayer with Religious. Events will include vespers, rosary or holy hours in convents, monasteries, religious houses, parishes and churches. (USCCB)
  • Sept. 23-26, 2015: Event for young men and women in discernment and in the process of joining religious orders (Vatican)
  • Nov. 2015: First Week, National Vocation Awareness Week (USCCB)
  • Dec. 18-21, 2015: Separate meetings for members of monastic orders and of secular institutes (Vatican)


  • Jan. 28 – Feb. 1, 2016: Theological symposium on religious life (Vatican)
