Brother Norman McCarthy, RIP

Brother Norman McCarthy, FSC, of the Midwest District, passed away on October 13, 2008. Please pray for his eternal rest.

Arrangements are as follows:

Visitation: Thursday, October 16, 2008 (throughout the day)

Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.

About Brother Norman McCarthy

Brother Norman entered the novitiate of the Brothers of the Christian Schools in 1956 in Glencoe and made his first vows the following year. In 1963 he professed his final vows in Plano, Illinois.

He attended high school at De La Salle Institutue in Chicago and graduated from La Salle Institute in Glencoes, Missouri. He earned a B.A. and a M.Ed. from Saint Mary’s College (now University) in Winona, Minnesota, and an M.C.Sp. from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

As an educator, Brother Norman taught at St. George High School in Evanston, Illinois, and at Costa H.igh School in Galesburg, Illinois. He was also a teacher in Kansas City, Missouri, Memphis, Tennessee and Omaha, Nebraska. Since 1992, he was teacher and counselor at Bishop Kelley High school in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
