Announcing the Brother Charles Kitson Institute for Formation of Lasallian Volunteers

Lasallian Volunteers has announced the Brother Charles Kitson Institute for Formation of Lasallian Volunteers.

The Kitson Institute replaces LV Orientation and will feature a redesigned program to meet the needs of today’s Volunteers.

Brother Charles Kitson, FSC, was a champion of inviting young people to engage in the Lasallian Mission to deepen their “yes” to a life lived so that others “might have life and have it in abundance.” Through Brother Charles’ example and prophetic witness, we are charged with continuing to share his message of the need for “forever Lasallians” and intentional formation of Young Lasallians to deepen their vocational journey and commitment.

Inspired by Brother Charles’ message, the Kitson Institute will focus on the key areas of faith, service and community in a more intentional way. It will serve as personal, professional and spiritual formation of Lasallian Volunteers at the beginning of their year of service and engage them in deepening their Lasallian identity and belonging. This intentional formative experience will invite the Volunteers into a process of understanding, articulating, participating and ultimately providing service and leadership in the tenets of faith, service and community. This preparatory experience will not only lay the groundwork for positive and effective service as Lasallian Volunteers, but also the invitation to begin a journey as a forever Lasallian, a journey much needed in our world today.

The Kitson Institute will be held July 21-30, 2017, at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois.
